From the 5th 0f October to the 10th of October we attended the Australian Land Conservation Alliance 2026 held in Nipaluna-Hobart. This huge event was very Informative for all of us who live and work in Land Sea and Air Conservation in Australia.
The 2026 conference was the biggest ever, bringing together people from all over Australia. This included Conservation changemakers and practitioners, First Nations land managers, policymakers, researchers, business, finance and industry experts, landholders and community representatives – all working to drive collective impacts for nature, people and planet.
The Nipaluna Traditional Owners welcomed myself to their special part of our country, for which I am deeply grateful.
I represented my culture and the National Land Care Network with expertise in Land care and Caring for Country. We shared our ancient cultural knowledge that highlighted how we use our traditional First Nations science and culture to community action can drive sustainable change in invasive species management, water, agriculture and rural development. I shared our stories on how we use our Indigenous cultural practices along with modern scientific knowledge to control Invasive Plants and animals across our country, Australia.
We also participated in the field trip on Friday where we traveled to the traditional Owner homelands outside Nipaluna. We learned from the Traditional owners about their use of and care for their ancient land and shared our indigenous knowledge with each other. Once again culture was at the forefront of two-way knowledge sharing
