Why donate?

Your support creates practical, lasting outcomes for Country and community.

Cape York Weeds and Feral Animals is a 100% Indigenous-run organisation with over three decades of experience delivering on-the-ground weed and feral animal management across Cape York. Our work protects ecosystems, cultural places and livelihoods, while creating real jobs, skills and leadership opportunities for our people.

Care for Country

Invasive species like pond apple, hymenachne and feral pigs degrade fragile ecosystems and smother native vegetation and disrupt critical habitats. Removing these threats restores biodiversity, re-opens sea grass meadows for dugongs and turtles, and improves water quality in our waterways and coastal environments. Donations support sustained strategic control programs, not one-off interventions, allowing Country the time and consistency it needs to recover.

Strong Local Capability

Your contribution helps build and retain local expertise. This includes accredited training, mentoring and leadership pathways so land management knowledge stays in community and is not reliant on fly-in, fly-out services.

Long-Term Presence on Country

Ongoing support allows CYWAFA to maintain a consistent presence across remote areas of Cape York. This continuity means early detection of new weed incursions, faster response to emerging threats, and better long-term outcomes.

Independence

With no guaranteed long-term government funding, donations give us the flexibility to:

  • Act quickly when new threats emerge.

  • Continue work between grant cycles.

  • Trial and refine locally appropriate methods.

  • Grow training and job opportunities in land management.

  • Maintain local employment and equipment.

This independence strengthens our ability to respond to real conditions on the ground and strengthen cultural connection to Country.

How your donation makes a difference

  • Donations support paid, skilled work for our people, keeping expertise, jobs and delivery on Country.

  • Support ensures land management is planned and deliver by people with deep local knowledge and responsibility for Country.

  • Contributions cover the real costs of equipment, transport, safety, compliance and reporting needed to deliver consistent and accountable programs.

Direct bank transfer ensure 100% of your contribution goes directly to our work.
