Annan, Endeavour, and Normanby Catchment's Community, Producer Technology Uptake-Building Drought Resilience – Field Day
We held our Annan, Endeavour and Normanby Catchment's Community Field Day, on Saturday 13th of September. Everything has dried out and the weather was cool and cloudy. It was very well attended, welcoming our long-term Indigenous and non-Indigenous producers from our country. A BIG CONGRATULATIONS to our community.
This project is jointly supported by the Integrated Engagement and Capacity Building project through the Queensland Government’s Queensland Reef Water Quality Program.’’ This extension project is also being done with sponsorship from Agrifutures Australia and Cape York NRM. As we have been involved in providing extension services for our Annan Endeavour, Normanby and Lakeland Producers we welcomed the extra support provded tio be able to share learnings from our DPI Tour to Townville and the Burdekin Agricultural Areas. . By having theses Workshops and Field days we hope to expose our community to modern innovative technology.
This time we had Department Of Primary Industries Expert Representatives who will answered all of our Producer Questions. We were pleased to showcase our In-farm and Auto Weed’s-Engineer Alex Olsen Artificial Intelligence News and Producer Demonstrations
Cape YNRM’s Project Manager Geoff Wilson and Feral Pig Coordinator Brett Carlsson also attended meeting with producers, talk about Cultivating climate smart and sustainable agriculture in Cape York Peninsula - an opportunity for involvement. As well,a Feral Pig coordination presentation/ discussion was held and the producers had a very lively discussion on the benefits of this kind of program.
We conducted a Weeds ID Field Walk and the attendees were very knowledgeable about our Invasive species in our area. We had Community Service Representatives from Hopevale Foundation, and other farmer in the area who were not part of our Producer Group. We certainly encouraged them to sign up as we are keep to keep our achievements ongoing.
We conducted a survey on the kinds of project that the producers wanted to see happen in our Agricultural Areas. This will be submitted to the decision makers within our DPI funders.
Hopefully this will not only help our environment, but we will also see a cost reduction and an improvement of community health and well-being. Like most we want to look after our country and to make it sustainable for the long term. We thank all our people who make these opportunities possible..
See our Photo Gallery of what happened on Saturday. We are grateful to our wonderful community who is very enthusiastic and participates at every one of our event.
