Mad May Round Up

In our Mad May Round up we have been keeping our group very focused on community. We have had a Pond Apple control run between Weary Bay and South Cape Bedford. We have been working closely with CAFNEC and have been accepted as a member of the Queensland conservation Council. We have hosted the State Government's Opposition Environment Minister Sam O'Connor, attended the Local Government Association of Queensland Natural Resource Management Forum in Cooktown, and the Great Barrier Reef Restoration Adaptation Program, Advisory Panel's meeting in Airlie Beach. The group had a field trip to Black Island Reef with Red Cat Adventures to view coral nurseries and health of nearshore reefs. Challenging conditions with 30knots of wind and 1.5-2.5m of visibility but we loved the trip and the conversations between our group and Australian Institute of Marine Science, Great Barrier Reef Foundation, Reef Catchments, Reef Restoration Foundation, Down Under Cruise and Dive.
